Spanish Exchange

Our school is extremely proud of its successful links we have with our Spanish school called Colegio Santiago Apostol. The school is in the north of Spain near the border of Portugal called Ponteareas.

For the last ten years our Year 6 pupils have taken part in a Spanish Exchange. In March we host 15 children and 2 teachers from Spain. The pupils have a tour of the Manchester United stadium, visit places of interest in Manchester and Liverpool.

In May we take 20 children to Ponteareas. The pupils have the opportunity to visit the school, take a tour around the town and experience the Spanish culture through food, songs and dance.

Visit to China

During the October 2019 Miss Molloy travellled to China. to join a group of ten teachers representing the Confucius Institute at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Here is her account of her visit to China.

The first part of the week was spent in Beijing, the second part of the week I was in Qinhuangdao.

The mornings were spent visiting schools. I observed first-hand their educational system and how learning opportunities are accessed by the pupils.

The afternoons I spent sight-seeing, visiting famous tourist areas, including the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

I was able  to forge links with one of the schools I visited.  Hopefully, they will enable penpal communication to commence.

A long term aim will be to explore possibilities of future exchanges with staff and pupils.
