PE and Sport Funding
Since 2013 the Government has provided PE Funding. In 2013-2014 Our Lady's received £5,435. A further £2,970 followed in April 2014. In September 2014 school received £5,192. This money has been used to further enhance our curriculum, resources and P.E. related activities. Expenditure has included new gym equipment (mats) and apparatus £1000, courses for teachers £500, indoor athletic equipment £1,500, 1 pull along music system with speakers £150 and a new storage shed. Skipping Day, Gaelic Football, Cricket and dance tuition as well as the hire of Sports Centres has also been financed from the grant. A Before School Gymnastics Club has commenced, the children participating achieved their BAGA awards in July.
A Key Stage 2 interschool Athletics Competition was held on Friday 4th July. Pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 from St. Mary's, Woodhouse and Our Lady of the Rosary competed against each other in various events. Medals were awarded for Bronze, Silver and Gold winners in both a variety of field and track events. The cost of hiring Longford Park Stadium, the coach transfers and medals were all financed using part of the grant money. This successful event was thoroughly enjoyed by both participants and spectators. It will be held again next year on Friday June 26th 2015.
